How does Business Finland make its funding decisions?

Business Finland's funding decisions are based on the evaluation of the application. The assessment of the application examines the applicant's eligibility as a Business Finland customer and the applicant's ability to carry out the planned project. The company must also have a credible internationalisation plan. Based on the project plan, the eligibility of the project for funding is assessed and whether a grant or a loan can be granted for the purpose applied for. The assessments are based on Finnish and EU regulations.

Funding is granted for projects that are considered to have the best chances of success in the international market and where a risk sharer is needed. Financing is granted in proportion to the risks of the project and the estimated business and export potential.

Companies must take into account that even if all the application criteria are met, it may be that other applications are found to have a greater impact.
