Success is worth nurturing, as studies show that the investment made by society through Business Finland is returned many times over in cooperation between companies and research institutes. Our companies are at the forefront of building Finland into a superpower for sustainable development. In this work, our expertise is an important part of the support network of companies. 

Research, development and innovation activities are an essential means of improving productivity. Studies have shown that RDI investments are the best way to share companies' financial risks and build competitiveness and growth. Business Finland's RDI funding has been proven to be effective and increases the amount of companies' own RDI investments. Finland must strive to be a world leader in innovation in order to succeed in international competition. Finland has fallen far from the top in OECD comparisons of RDI investments.

Finnish companies have strong expertise in combating the world's wicked problems, such as the climate crisis and biodiversity loss. There is a huge, growing demand for good sustainable solutions around the world. Finns should take their share of this market. We can be bigger than our size in overcoming sustainability challenges. 

Finland is a small, open economy. Our well-being is strongly dependent on exports. Compared to key countries, Finland's investments in export promotion are low, and the share of exports in Finland's national economy is also low. We need to do better.
