These messages, phone calls, and fake websites may be used for fraudulently obtaining information such as personal data, banking credentials, card details, user IDs, passwords, and PIN numbers. Often, the messages look very authentic and credible. Fake websites, in particular, are very skillfully and professionally done.
Always check the URL of the website you are visiting, whether it is a website of Business Finland or another organization or company. Today, almost all organizations and companies, including Business Finland, use an encrypted connection (the so-called https connection) between the browser and the server. Business Finland’s emails are often sent from the domain businessfinland.fi. The subject line of the email may also refer to the names of our different programs, such as Food From Finland.
Look at the URL field in the browser and verify that it shows the padlock symbol which means that the website is encrypted. If the padlock appears and, by clicking on it, you can see the correct address of the site you are visiting, the site is secure and you can continue to browse it safely. Business Finland always encrypts its browser traffic.
Business Finland does not ask its customers, stakeholders, or other cooperation partners for any personal information – including passwords, banking credentials, or usernames – by email, SMS, or phone.
If you suspect that you have been the victim of cybercrime through emails or fake websites sent or published in Business Finland’s name, you can submit an information security report by contacting us at kirjaamo (at) businessfinland.fi or via our Leave feedback page.
If you suspect that you have transferred money to a scammer’s bank account or that your banking credentials have been compromised, contact your card deactivation service and bank as soon as possible.
