What is BF ID?

The BF ID is a common user ID for Business Finland's online services. The BF ID is personal. By creating an account, you can use Business Finland's various services more easily and securely.

Please note that you will continue to log in to the financing e-service as before.

Your BF ID

By identifying, you can create or edit a BF ID for yourself. You can also:

  • Update your personal information.
  • Change your password
  • Verify your organization information
  • Invite and approve other users to your organization

Strong authentication is required for use. Please make sure that you have either online banking credentials or a mobile certificate. If you have any problems, please contact us by sending a message to Business Finland's customer service.

You can use all of Business Finland's (BF) online services that you have started using with a single login.

The BF ID replaces the user IDs of Business Finland's various services in the identification situation. The BF ID will be introduced in Business Finland's online services in stages. You can find up-to-date information on services that use the BF ID on this website. Please note that you will continue to log in to the financing e-service as before.

The use of the BF account is secure and free of charge.

A BF ID is created when you register a Business Finland digital service that uses a BF ID for the first time. To create an account, you must first use strong identification in the Suomi.fi Web Service (excl. Market Opportunities, which you can access only with a business email). To identify yourself in the Suomi.fi Web Service, you will need a mobile certificate, an electronic ID card or online banking codes. Use only personal credentials. Follow the instructions in the service. Using Business Finland's digital services is secure when you have been strongly identified.

In addition, you will need a working email address that will serve as a username. We recommend that you choose an email address that you actively use. We will send messages regarding your BF to this email address. We also recommend that you add your phone number.

Finally, if you are using a device that is in a public space or otherwise in shared use, clear the browser cache and close the browser.

An up-to-date list of services where the BF ID is in use can be found below under 'Frequently asked questions and answers'.

Associate BF tokens with your organization

Business Finland's services are intended for companies and research organisations. We assume that you associate your personal BF with the company or organization you work for.

When you link your BF to your own organization, other members of the organization will automatically receive a request from you to join for approval. The approval of one person already in the organization is enough.

The approval takes place in the BF-ID service, where you accept the joining requests sent to you. In the service, you can also invite other colleagues to join your organization. Please note that Business Finland will never ask you to log in to the BF ID service via the link in the email, but will ask you to log in to the BF ID service through our website.

If your membership of the organization is approved and you become a member of the organization, you are also responsible for accepting new members joining your organization. As a member of an organization, you can invite your colleagues to join your organization. If you have problems joining, please first ask your colleague if he or she has received and accepted the request to join. If the problem is not solved, please contact Business Finland by sending a message to Business Finland's customer service.

You manage all your own data in the BF ID service. You are responsible for keeping your BF-related information up to date and for joining the organisation.

How do I use my BF?

After creating a BF account, you can use all Business Finland services that you log in to with your BF ID. Depending on the service, we ask you to identify yourself either strongly (Suomi.fi identification) or with the email address (username) and password you provided during registration.

If the service processes confidential information and the transactions concern confidential information, the service will ask you to identify yourself each time through strong identification in the Suomi.fi service. Make sure you have your online banking credentials or mobile certificate available. The service can also be used to check whether you are authorised to act, represent and provide information on behalf of the organisation. The right of representation is checked from the Trade Register.
