Onko ohjelmaan mukaan tulemiselle kriteereitä?

Oletko innostunut siruteollisuudesta ja uusien ratkaisujen luomisesta sen tarpeisiin? Tervetuloa mukaan The Chips Campaign -ohjelmaan!

More information about the theme of the programme

Electronics, photonics and, in the future, quantum technology will form an increasingly strong foundation for the modern way of life. These areas of science and technology are also central to the growth of companies, the security of states and the implementation of the green transition. Commercial expectations built around artificial intelligence and the digital reality (metaverse) are driving the development of the industry so that its value is predicted to exceed the USD 1 trillion mark by 2030. This means that the value of the industry will more than double in just six years.

Why was the theme chosen?

Finland has strong expertise in key technologies that enable digitalisation. Our internationally recognized know-how provides an excellent foundation for future growth. In its national strategy ("Chips from the North", published in April 2024), the Finnish Semiconductor Industry Group has estimated that Finland has credible opportunities to triple the industry by 2035.

The purpose of The Chips Campaign programme is to support this growth outlook with the help of Business Finland's funding and advisory services. In addition, The Chips Campaign programme aims to help Finnish companies, research institutes and universities achieve a central position in the field in Europe.

Background from the EU's perspective

The international value chains of the chip industry are strongly Asian-centric. For this reason, the EU is investing up to €43 billion in the sector through the European Chips Act. The aim is to strengthen Europe's technological leadership in research, development, design and manufacturing, and to return some of the most critical supply chains back to Europe.

The Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips JU) is a key instrument established under the EU's European Chips Act, the purpose of which is to facilitate the strengthening of European value chains. It opens up opportunities for European companies and research institutions to participate in European ecosystems and international value chains. The technical content of Chips JU covers all key technologies enabling digitalization, such as electronics (from microelectronics to power electronics), photonics and quantum technologies.

Business Finland's goal for the programme

Liiketoiminnan kasvu

Vaikka kannustamme osallistujia tiiviiseen yhteistyöhön projektin puitteissa (kts. esim. Business Finlandin yhteisinnovaatiorahoitus, ECS Chips JU:n kautta tai Eureka Xecs), tuemme yrityksiä myös niiden yksilöllisissä kasvupyrkimyksissä.

Uusien liiketoimintamarkkinoiden avaaminen

Ohjelma toimii yhteistyössä ulkoministeriön markkina-asiantuntijoiden kanssa avatakseen suomalaisille yrityksille liiketoimintamahdollisuuksia kohdemarkkinoilla.

Suomen aseman tukeminen alan edelläkävijänä

Autamme ulkomaisia yrityksiä sijoittautumaan Suomeen. Suomi on erityisen houkutteleva paikka t&k-toimintaan ja edistyneeseen valmistukseen keskittyville sekä yhteistyöhaluisille yrityksille.
