The aim of the research and development funding provided by Business Finland for the creative industries is to promote the renewal and international competitiveness of companies in the sector by supporting ambitious research and development projects. The funding is used to share the risks in innovative projects that develop new know-how, business models, and technologies that can achieve a significant competitive advantage in international markets. The funding also encourages companies in other industries to utilize creative know-how in their projects, creating cross-sectoral growth opportunities and new solutions to global challenges.

The funding call is intended for
- companies in the creative industries for their own research and development projects (pdf)
- In companies' research-oriented projects, the minimum grant amount is EUR 50,000, in which case the total cost of the project is at least EUR 100,000.
- In development projects, the minimum grant amount is EUR 50,000, in which case the total cost of the project should be at least EUR 143,000.
- Companies operating in other industries can apply for the funding when the solution planned in the project requires leveraging the creative industries and at least 40% the estimated project costs consist of the purchase of services based on creative know-how.
Companies can be Business Finland’s customers when they have
- a Finnish business ID
- sufficient financial resources for the project and for internationalization
- versatile know-how and a diverse team
- a desire to grow in international markets
- a competitive advantage in international markets
Typical obstacles to awarding the grant
- The applicants is in difficulty according to the EU State aid rules
- The applicant does not operate in Finland.
- The project does not classify as research and development.
- The project does not have a project plan to enable its evaluation and the monitoring of its implementation
- The project has begun before submitting the application.
Schedule of the funding call
The funding call will be open from January 22, 2025 to May 31, 2025. We will process applications and make decisions continuously while the funding call is open. If necessary, the application period can be extended.

You should complete the basic applicant and application information in Business Finland's online service. Please read the application instructions carefully, so that you know how to complete the different parts of the application. Please set aside time for completing the application.
