Business Finland is inviting Finnish companies with sustainable textile solutions to attend an event in Oslo in September. The event offers an opportunity to gain visibility for Finnish textile industry innovations to inspire and present concrete solutions to the sustainability challenges, as well as to create high-value contacts with key players in the Norwegian textile industry.

The event is a Team Finland event organized by the Embassy of Finland and Business Finland together with Norway’s leading textile industry cluster Norwegian Fashion & Textile Agenda (NF&TA). The event takes place during the annual Oslo Innovation Week and is included in its program. Warmly welcome!

The event is aimed for Finnish companies offering sustainable textile solutions and wanting to pursue Norway as a strategic market or partner.

Norway is set to reduce climate gas emissions in the textile industry as it has been selected by the Norwegian Government as one of seven main value chains to focus on to increase sustainability. Norway has a limited textile industry within its borders, but its inhabitants consume textiles in great amounts, approx. 15 kg per person annually. Norwegian end-of-life textiles are mainly sent out of the country for sorting, resell and recycling. Norway is to comply with the EU directives related to separate collection and recycling of end-of-life textiles from 2025 onwards.

Increased attention is paid to how to incorporate sustainability into the design process, how to organize cost-effective collection of end-of-life textiles, how to handle the textile materials after collection and how to give recycled fibers a new life. The Norwegian textile industry wishes to connect with Finnish companies to share knowledge and competence and build relations with players in the industry to ensure an increasing level of sustainability in the textile industry. We call for the Finnish companies to take this opportunity to form collaboration between the Finnish and Norwegian textile industry to meet the common sustainability goals.

The Norwegian participants attending the event are expected to represent the fields of textile collection and recycling, manufacturers of work wear, profile clothing and protective clothing, laundry operators, fabric producers, yarn spinners and representatives of municipalities, cities and public organizations.
