Like many EU economies, Czechia is also on its path to transforming its economy to become more environmentally sustainable and technologically advanced. To foster this transition process Czechia has reserved more than 10 billion euros from the allocated EU funding for the green transition only.
Czechia's energy mix is still heavily dependent on fossil fuels, which will need to be replaced in the coming decade. Although the share of RES (renewable energy sources) is gradually increasing, they still account for only 12% of total electricity production. Energy use is inefficient across all sectors, from housing to industry.
Business Finland has contracted a study on the Czech energy markets. The study was prepared by a Czech Gatum Group s.r.o. The main purpose of the study is to cover variety of topics, from financing to an overview of relevant stakeholders to identify the largest business opportunities for Finnish companies and provide practical guidelines on how to approach potential interest to enter the Czech market. The study focused, in particular, on district heating, bioenergy and waste to energy, electric vehicle charging, and industrial energy efficiency.
Business Finland together with Gatum is organizing a webinar to address the most interest opportunities identified in the study.
