Chips JU was launched in November 2023 and the goal of the joint undertaking is to strengthen the European semiconductor ecosystem and economic security. The first two years focused on developing R&D infrastructures and now, during 2025, it is time to ramp up R&D activities.
Chips JU has had open calls for pilot lines and competence centers, and the focus is now shifting towards research and development. To do this, Chips JU is launching new Chips JU ECS R&I (Research and Innovation on Electronic Components and Systems) calls.
