Alberta is quickly becoming a leader in North America for companies committed to sustainable energy. As the Canadian energy capital, Alberta has more than 800 oil and gas operations. Following the Pathways Alliance commitment to net-zero emissions, Alberta is now driving innovations enabling the growth of the sustainable energy generation, storage and hydrogen sectors, with $2 billion CAD invested in renewable energy since July 2019.

Business Finland, together with the Finnish Canadian Business Council (FCBC), will host a series of presentations relevant to Finnish cleantech companies seeking commercial activities in Canada. Those presentations will be followed with a panel discussion and a Q&A session with high-level representatives from public and private institutions deeply involved in sustainable energy projects and financing in Alberta. Those institutions include:

  • Invest Alberta Corporation: as one of North America’s premier investment attraction organizations, Invest Alberta Corporation expedites business operations, fosters collaboration, and goes the extra mile to ensure long-term success for businesses. Invest Alberta works directly with investors globally to start up or scale up in Alberta, Canada.
  • Korkia: is an accelerator of the energy transition – we are the preferred partner for asset developers, owners and investors, throughout the value chain. Our mission is to deliver clean megawatts to the market to ensure that future generations have an economically prosperous and sustainable world to live in.
  • Blue Harp Consulting: is an Alberta based energy and sustainability consulting firm specializing in grid innovation & modernization technologies, renewable energy, energy storage, decarbonization initiatives, and energy transition projects. Over the last three years Blue Harp has supported or led the development of over 150MW of energy storage projects in Alberta, of which 75MW are currently in operation or construction.

This event will provide Finnish cleantech companies practical advice on entering the Canadian market, further insight on opportunities related to public & private financing and other forms of commercial collaboration, and a chance to deepen Canadian networks.

We will answer the following questions

  • What opportunities are there for Finnish energy companies?
  • To whom can Finnish companies supply their solutions?
  • How much investment potential is in the Albertan energy market?
  • What kind of investment support can be expected?

In addition, you can book a short one-on-one meeting with Invest Alberta and Korkia. The meetings will commence after the panel at 15:00. The meeting schedule will be shared individually with each participant closer to the event.
