Business Finland, together with Embassy of Finland in Jakarta and SITRA are happy to invite relevant stakeholders, mainly Finnish companies in carbon neutrality and circular economy space to our breakfast information session which will be held in Team Finland House, Helsinki on 25 August 2023.
This info session will introduce our upcoming event in Jakarta, Indonesia on 8-9 November 2023 called Finland ASEAN Circular Economy Carbon Neutrality Forum 2023.
Countries in ASEAN are moving more and more toward circular economy and decarbonatization. Particularly in the fast-growing ASEAN region, there is an urgent need to decouple economic growth from GHG emissions. Actions must be based on scientific knowledge while simultaneously minimizing impacts on various environmental issues such as air pollution, ocean pollution, and biodiversity preservation across the region.
ASEAN and ASEAN countries have a remarkable opportunity to reach economic, environmental, and social benefits through advancing the circular economy and carbon neutrality. This event will bridge the global circular economy community and forerunner countries like Finland to support ASEAN in promoting circular economy and carbon neutrality and create a basis for collaboration and sharing of knowledge and concretely advancing the global transition to a circular economy and carbon neutrality.

Finland ASEAN Circular Economy Carbon Neutrality Forum 2023
The event will be co-organized by Team Finland in Indonesia with support of ASEAN Secretariate, ASEAN Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform (ACESP) and Indonesia Ministries. The event will be organized under the umbrella and brand of WCEF – the World Circular Economy Forum, which is hosted by SITRA. The event can be officially called a WCEF side event, and it can be tied to the larger umbrella of the WCEF brand and the related activities, topics and discussions in the international field of circular economy and carbon neutrality.
Brief description on tracks and panel discussion topics on November event where we will involve as many of our Finnish companies as possible:
- Track 1: Solutions for carbon neutral circular megacities in Southeast Asia, CASE NUSANTARA (Indonesia’s new capital) with 3 panel discussions:
- i. Panel I – Carbon Neutral Transport (Electric Vehicle, Biofuel, Hydrogen);
- ii. Panel II – Waste to Value (Waste to Energy, Biogas, Waste management);
- iii. Panel III – Energy Efficiency (Sustainable Grids, Digitalization in Energy, Energy transition)
- Track 2: Solutions for circular, carbon neutral and nature positive tropical islands and inclusion of indigenous communities with 3 panel discussions:
- i. Panel I – Marine, River & Land Plastic recycle;
- ii. Panel II - Sustainable Building Materials;
- iii. Panel III – Regenerative Circular Models
- Track 3: Partner-led track by ASEAN & Financing Stakeholder with panels discussion including:
- EU – ASEAN Circular Economy Workshop (TBD) and Financing Sustainable Green Projects in Indonesia and ASEAN
