Under the rapidly ageing society, Japanese pharmaceutical and healthcare companies are in the urgent and critical need of developing sustainable and wellbeing-sensitive remote care and preventative medication. However, they are facing challenges to establish new approaches due to some constraints in health-related digital infrastructures and stagnation with conventional business models.
There has been, therefore, solid needs among Japanese companies to seek for possible collaborations with external institutions that have strengths in these areas. Collaborations are often not limited to pure import and licensing, but, rather, get developed as joint R&D and even direct investment cases in order to secure adoptability of products and technologies for the Japanese market that has its own requirements.
The Team Finland network is organizing a Business Delegation visit to Tokyo on October 10-13, 2023. Participating in the Business Delegation will give you an unique possibility to both get to know the Japanese health market and to get direct contacts to potential partners/customers. Ms. Päivi Sillanaukee, Ambassador for Health and Wellbeing, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland will also join the visit and will lead high level meetings.
During this visit participating companies will have the opportunity to pitch for Japanese stakeholders, attend matchmaking event as well as visit BioJapan, which is Asia's largest partnering event.
The BioJapan event attracted around 16 000 visitors from 35 countries in 2022 with 15 000 B2B meetings even during COVID19 restrictions. BioJapan event is constituted by three exhibitions;
1. The world's oldest biotechnology exhibition "BioJapan",
2. "Regenerative Medicine JAPAN", aiming to accelerate and industrialize R&D in the field of regenerative medicine including iPS cells, and
3."Health TECH JAPAN", providing fusion of digital technology and life science.
Who should attend?
This visit is aimed for Finnish companies that are already present in Japan or actively pursuing Japan in their international development strategy, and for representatives of the Finnish flagship solutions and technologies in personalized health, BioBank service, Digital health including AI diagnostic technology and Robotics/automation system for pharma industry/ age-tech industry.
Practicalities & participation fee
To cover the expenses of arranging the trade mission, Business Finland will charge a participation fee.
- Micro Businesses and SMEs: 2200 EUR + 24% VAT per person
- Major Companies: 2500 EUR + 24% VAT per person
The participation fee includes B2B Partnering account fee for BioJapan business matching. Business Finland will invoice the participation fee after the visit based on the actual costs. The invoiced fee will not exceed the amounts mentioned above. Kindly note that the participation fee does not include flights or accommodation of the delegate nor meals outside the delegation program.
