The Team Finland network is organizing a Business Delegation visit to Tanzania and Kenya from 31 January to 3 February 2023, led by Mr. Mika Lintilä, Minister of Economic Affairs. The focus sectors of this delegation are Energy, Mining, Education, Logistics and Maritime (Tanzania), ICT, Energy, Banking and Health (Kenya).
Tanzania
Tanzania offers a wide range of opportunities for trade and investments in the East African Community with access to seven countries and a population of 283 million, Southern African Development Community (SADC) as well as preferential trade agreements such as AGOA. Key sectors for the Tanzanian economy include Energy, Mining, Agriculture Tourism, Manufacturing, Maritime, Healthcare, Real Estate among others.
Tanzania is ranked among the 10 fastest growing economies in Africa. In the past 10 years, the country’s economy grew at an average of 7% percent and in 2020, the country was officially promoted to a lower-middle-income country by the World Bank. The mentioned feats can be attributed to political and economic stability, as well as peace and tranquillity.
Kenya
Kenya is the trade hub of East Africa and the most advanced economy in the region with robust economic growth. Kenya is praised for its dynamic business environment, high diversity of trade, and for its developed infrastructure and urbanization.
Kenya has one of the most advanced telecommunication/ICT sectors in Africa. The country is the regional leader in broadband connectivity, general ICT infrastructure, value added services (VAS), mobile money, and mobile banking and FinTech services.
In the Energy sector, Kenya seeks to achieve 100% clean energy by 2030. The current energy mix is predominantly green energy with hydro, geothermal, solar and wind which accounts for roughly 81% energy generation in 2021.
The private sector plays an important role in the healthcare industry by providing quality care using sophisticated diagnostic devices and medical treatments, with a focus on NCDs as well as maternal and paediatric care.
Urbanization, fast-growing middle class and young consumers offers business opportunities in e-commerce, consumers goods, transportation, health and security services, constructions, food processing and sustainable packaging.
The goal of this visit is to offer an excellent opportunity for Finnish companies to establish high-level business connections with companies and public authorities in Tanzania and Kenya, and to foster the relations between Finland and the two countries.

Tanzania:
Finnish companies operating within the sectors of energy, mining, logistics, maritime sectors, and education the Eastern African region and especially offering smart solutions for automation of transport and logistics sector.
Kenya:
Finnish companies operating within the sectors of Healthcare, Construction, Energy, ICT, e-commerce, food processing, packaging with interest to explore business opportunities in Kenya.
Whilst the visit program concentrates on the forementioned sectors, we also welcome companies from other sectors that have current activities and concrete business needs in Tanzania and Kenya.
The program of the visit includes a business seminar, site visits and sector specific B2B meetings with business leaders and authorities according to the interest of the participating companies.
Participation fee
To cover the expenses of arranging the visit to Tanzania during 30 January - 1 February 2023, Business Finland will charge a participation fee:
- Micro businesses and SMEs: EUR 2750 + 24% VAT per person
- Major companies: EUR 2350 + 24% VAT per person
To cover the expenses of arranging the visit to Kenya during 1 - 3 February 2023, Business Finland will charge a participation fee.
- Micro businesses and SMEs: EUR 2600 + 24% VAT per person
- Major companies: EUR 2200 + 24% VAT per person
Business Finland will invoice the participation fee after the visit based on the actual costs. The invoiced fee will not exceed the amounts mentioned above.
