On January 13, 2025, we will open a call for funding for investment projects to decarbonize industrial production processes and to improve their energy efficiency, as well as investment projects that promote the transition to a climate-neutral economy. The grant is intended for investment projects with eligible costs of at least 30 million euros.
The investment grant is based on a Government Decree issued on January 9, 2025, on the support program for industrial investments for a clean transition. The program has been allocated 400 million euros for the year 2025. The Government Decree comes into effect on January 13, 2025, when Business Finland will also open the call for funding.
The aid decision will be made by Business Finland after consulting the Ministry of Employment and the Economy.
“The funding is based on a temporary suspension of EU state aid rules, which allows member states the possibility to adapt their economies and energy markets to the crisis caused by Russia’s war of aggression. Due to EU regulations, Business Finland must make funding decisions by the end of 2025. I believe that the projects initiated with this aid will be encouraging examples, and that they will generate expertise that will benefit other investors and suppliers involved in the implementation of the projects," says Senior Director Kari Komulainen from Business Finland.
Detailed information about the funding call will be available on Business Finland's website on Monday, January 13.
The government has submitted a bill to parliament on tax credits for large investments aiming for a climate-neutral economy (government proposal HE 207/2024). A call for tax credit will be opened separately at a date to be announced later.
