The industrial clusters which operate within the Eureka network, together with 16 countries, have opened a joint Call for sustainable industry project proposals. The themes Green ICT and Space-Earth-Ocean integrated Systems are in focus, but not exclusively.
In the global context of digital and green transitions, it is essential for all actors to become more sustainable while providing effective responses to the economic, technological, and societal rising challenges.
The Eureka cooperation is always defined by the industry themselves and the research topics derive from their needs. The Eureka funding is different from the EU programmes, and it is realised with the national innovation funding bodies.
The Call is looking for projects that will form innovative ecosystems, with sustainable industry at their core, that will enable advances in the State-of-the-Art and result in commercial opportunities, economic and societal impact in the application areas addressed. Projects with eligible costs in the range of 5 – 20 M € are expected, though projects outside this range may also be submitted for evaluation.
The countries involved are Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Hungary, Ireland, Luxemburg, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United Kingdom, and with specific terms Germany.
The Eureka Clusters participating are CELTIC-NEXT, EUROGIA, ITEA4, SMART ja XECS.
Eureka Clusters bring together Industry, SMEs and Academia in global research and innovation ecosystems to create highly innovative and competitive technological solutions in alignment with national priorities. The Clusters facilitate industrial development for both large companies and SMEs working with Research and Technology Organisations (RTO's) and Universities, through collaborative projects creating innovative ecosystems that can deliver high economic and societal impact in multiple sectors of the economy.
Business Finland applies national funding criteria, including the so-called Co-innovation Criteria for consortia where research is included. There is no specific funding budget for this call.
This is a two-phase call for proposals: The Project Outlines will be submitted on 2 May 2022 latest. The proposals selected for 2nd phase evaluation will prepare the Full Project Proposal by 30 Sept 2022. The funding decisions are due during autumn 2022.
