Changes coming to companies' R&D funding applications

Business Finland aims to streamline the processing of funding applications by introducing a project plan template that must be used by companies and a table describing the company's background information. These new compulsory documents will be included in the online service. The changes apply to companies' Research, development and pilot funding and companies' Co-Innovation funding applications.

The new document templates will become mandatory on August 12, 2024, but they can already be used in the online service from June 6, 2024.

In order to evaluate companies' funding applications, Business Finland needs information about both the applying company and its project. Unfortunately, more detailed information often has to be asked separately from the company that submitted the application, which slows down the processing of applications. The project plan template ensures that all the necessary information is obtained at once and the processing of funding applications goes smoothly.

The new templates

The project plan template collects all the necessary information about the project. Such information includes, for example, the nature of the project (research/experimental development), resourcing, a more precise structure of costs, impact, and benefit of project.

The company's background information table collects information about the company's structure, shareholders, and financial status in accordance with the criteria defined in the EU state aid rules. Information is required from all companies except those that are publicly listed.
